Emergency Medicine Unit provides patients with medical, nursing and assistance services for short-term intensive observation period (assistance from 6 to 24 hours in Casualty followed either by discharge or hospitalization). The Emergency Medicine Unit also provides hospitalization. Services are provided to acute patients in unstable condition who do not need immediate intensive care, patients with pathologies which may need surgery, patients with clinical problems which may be solved in the short-term. The assistance also provides medical stabilization and plans diagnostic/therapeutic research in order to define and treat the clinical picture.
Emergency Medicine Unit is located on the first floor in the Pavilion Morgagni; the ward has 8 rooms ensuite with 2 beds each and an area with 4 monitored beds where patients in unstable condition are supervised. Mobile Telemetry monitoring is also available. The Emergency Medicine Unit and the Casualty are connected with four lifts, two of them inside the ward, one for urgent movements between Casualty, Critical Care, operating rooms, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, CCU Cardiology, Hemodynamic, and the other one external which connects all the floors of the building. Moreover, visitors use four external lifts, near the entrance of the Pavilion.
